Initial Level OHS Course For Health & Safety Representatives, Supervisors And Managers-WorkSafe Vic

The training course will supply basic information and skills required for HSRs to successfully exercise their powers under the Victorian Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act 2004 and Victorian OHS Regulations 2007.

The course will also provide HSRs with:

- an understanding of the objectives of the OHS Act 2004 and their role under the Act

- knowledge of their powers under the OHS legislation and how to exercise these powers

- skills in representing members of their designated work group including consulting, issue resolution and negotiating with their employer

- knowledge of where and how to obtain assistance in dealing with hazards and dangerous situations, and

- an understanding of the role of occupational health and safety in the workplace in the prevention of incidents, injury and illness.

Topics include:

- Understand the legal framework for occupational health and safety

- Describe the roles and powers of the key workplace parties (not HSRs) in the OHS Act 2004

- Understand the representation role of HSRs and their legal powers and entitlements

- Understand the role and representative powers of a HSR in the identification of hazards and risk controls at the workplace

- Skills to represent members of a DWG and participate in workplace consultation, issue resolution and negotiation.

If a client officially withdraws before commencement date, a full refund less an administration fee will be given. If the Institute cancels a short course the client is offered a rollover into a later course or a full refund.
