Innoven - Hospitality
The Hospitality Department employs passionate staff who constantly strive to enhance Hospitality Industry Standards with initiatives such as, the Master Class Series, Hospitality Industry Advisory Committee meetings and participation in regional food and wine events.
Hospitality staff have extensive industry experience, having worked overseas and in some of Australia’s renowned restaurants and hotels.
Hospitality training delivered by Innoven provides a well balanced learning experience where theoretical and hands-on training are combined.
Hospitality students gain their skills using an industry standard simulated work environment. This includes food preparation in the training kitchens on all campuses and serving of this food to genuine customers in the training restaurants. Both the Shepparton and Wangaratta Campuses operate training restaurants that are open to the public for lunch and evening meals.
The Institute endeavours to provide extensive first hand experiences within the hospitality industry to enhance student learning. Hospitality students are provided with the opportunity to participate in several regional and state-wide events, such as:
- The VicTAFE Cookery Challenge
- Chefs on the Murray Slow Food Dinner
- Art on a Plate
They also participate in the Master Class Series - an initiative which provides students with the opportunity to gain knowledge from passionate acclaimed chefs and wine makers.
To date students have had the opportunity to work with a broad range of renowned chefs, such as Stefano de Pieri, Patrizia Simone, Stephanie Alexander, Geoff Lindsay, Tony Tan and George Calombaris, and expert wine makers including Grant Van Every, Fred Pizzini and Anna Monichino.
The Institute offers a range of Hospitality Courses ranging from Certificate II to Diploma Level and a variety of short courses. Students can choose to learn full-time or part-time, on-campus or as trainees or apprentices in the industry.
