Bakery wins state award
Tatura Hot Bread was recently awarded the Best Bakery in Victoria, the Best Training Bakery in Victoria, the Best Vegetarian Pastie in Australia and a swag of other awards at the COSMO09 Baking Convention at the Hilton Hotel in Melbourne.
Having well trained staff is fundamental to business success, which is something that Glenda and Jeff Alexandra from Tatura Hot Bread attest to.
The success at the Baking Covention reflects the fact that Glenda and Jeff have put in a lot of time and effort into their business, including expanding their premises, creation of new and tasty products and the investment in the training of their staff.
Glenda and Jeff have been training apprentices through GOTAFE for the past 10 years in both hospitality (front of house) and baking and patisserie.
"It's really easy working with the GOTAFE staff," Glenda explains. "If we have any questions or problems they are really helpful, and our staff are very enthusiastic about training with GOTAFE."
The majority of Tatura Hot Bread staff have returned to study later in life. "We're really proud of our staff and how they have taken on the challenge to study. Thanks to GOTAFE returning to study has been made easy for them," says Glenda.
Jeff and Glenda are also great role models for their staff as they themselves have also studied advanced business management principles and lean manufacturing with GOTAFE to make sure that their business is efficient, well managed and successful.
Tatura Hot Bread walked away with a total of 16 awards at the COSMO09 Baking Convention. Glenda Alexandra has thanked GOTAFE for all their support.
